Update: Due to an unexpected delivery (due late summer), Charley cannot run with me this year. However the plan is now that Charley help me reach me target this year, and then I will elp her with training and fundraising when its her turn next year...
In April last year my son Grant lost his battle with cancer, he was only 20 and was so brave and courageous and was an inspiration to anyone that met him.
Grant spent his last few weeks at St Helena Hospice; anyone who has come into contact with the Hospice is aware how much care and support they give to the family & friends.
Two of our family friends Roy & Charlene Corneloues were also inspired by Grant and the hospice, and felt they would like to give something back. They have both been given places in the London Marathon 2010, and they will be running on behalf of St Helena Hospice and also as a remembrance of Grant. I have been given the honour of helping them fundraise for this event.
We never know what is round the corner these days, 2 years ago I wouldn’t never dream I would of come in to contact with the Hospice, but I can only be thankful it was there for us and it would be a great loss to the community if there were not enough funds to keep it running.
St Helena’s Hospice has to raise a staggering amount of money as they are only given a percentage by the government, to this end I would be most grateful if you could contribute to any fundraising events we are organising on behalf of the Hospice.
