Hello, I am Grace Mitchell, and this coming September I plan on climbing Mount Killimanjaro for the charity ChildReach International.
Mount Killimanjaro is the highest freestanding mountain in the world, rising to 4,600 m (15,100 ft) from its base, a dormant volcano, and with 20% of all the snow in africa covering it, its pretty scary stuff!
...but I'm doing it all in the name of Charity; ChildReach International to be precise, a charity that works directly with those in need, giving support to some of the world's poorest communities by feeding aid in directly and discovering ways to help in which the community and the children will benefit the most (just check them out on the left and see how great they are for yourself!)
Most of you, being friends and family, are probably reading this thinking 'I can't imagine Grace climbing anything, let alone a mountain,' but motivated to help those in need, I am committed to reach the summit. It's not going to be an easy climb though; 6-8 hours of climbing a day for 6 days, whilst battling exhaustion, nausea, and the possibilty of severe altitude sickness isn't appealing to most, but all this is just a slight technicality in what will truly be the opportunity of a lifetime, with the personal gratification I will get along with the knowledge I am helping make a difference to many childrens lives.
So what am I asking of you? ...please just donate as little as or as much as you can to help me reach my target of £2,200, and hopefully excel right past it, and you in return will be part of helping many children in need. Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: ChildReach International gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
A few examples of how your donations are used:
=> just £2 pays for vaccinations for a mother and child that saves lives.
=> just £5 pays for a child to attend a vocational training centre that provides them with the education and qualifications for a brighter future.
=> just £15 would send two orphans to school for a year.
=> £400 pays for a water pump to be installed in a village in Africa which would provide clean and safe water
After the climb I will be volunteering at a ChildReach project which plans to build a vocational skill centre for children to be educated towards concrete qualifications and give them the motivation and skills they need to gain better employment and a greater quality of life. This will show me hands on, how ChildReach and your donations, benefits many lives.
In anticipation of your kind support can I now just say 'thank you' so much for all your donations ...so far and those still to come
- it's greatly appreciated by myself, ChildReach International, and ALL those that benefit.
Best wishes to you all for your generosity - Grace Mitchell.
