Hi to all you great and generous rugby supporters from all over the world. Acorns cares for children with life-limiting conditions. This means that we care for children who are not expected to reach adulthood, as a cure for their condition cannot be found. We provide respite, emergency and end-of-life care and also round-the-clock community support to the whole family.
6 Granddads all Worcester Warriors Supporters (including player’s fathers!) will cycle 300 miles from Sixways Rugby Stadium to the great northern City of Newcastle to raise funds in aid of Acorns Children's Hospice.
We will be set off by Ben Gotting, who will join us for the first leg, on New Years Day 2008. We will arrive at Newcastle Falcons in time for the kick-off between The Soaring Falcons and the Mighty Warriors on Sunday 6th January.
We are all well in excess of 50, therefore we have been asked to prove our sanity before we start. It will be a tough event where we hope to cover upto 80 miles a day. If we can raise this grand sum of £10,000 it will have been worth every second of the ride and very very sore bottoms.
Now we know granddads just love their grandchildren as do their Grandmothers so how better to show the love for many life limited children throughout the three counties of Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire.
Please, please give generously all these children deserve our love and whatever help we can give them. A little about Acorns:”
We have three hospices, based in Birmingham and Worcester, and our community team covers theWest Midlands , Worcestershire, and Gloucestershire.
Our hospices are designed to be a home-from-home. There are no uniforms or set routines, and the mix of therapy, play and nursing care means that children can make the most of every day."
Thank you for visiting our fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor the team, online.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor the team: Acorns Children's Hospice Trust will receive your money faster and, if you are a taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor "Granddads for Acorns" now!
Many thanks for your support.
