Hi guys,
On August 15th 2009 I will be flying to Tanzania to climb the worlds HIGHEST freestanding mountain- Kilimanjaro!
I need to raise (a minimum of) £2200 for Childreach International. The money you help me raise will be helping some of the poorest children in the world.
Unlike other global charities, Childreach International are so focused on their charitable work that a huge 96% of the money they receive goes directly to achieving their goals, rather than to staff or administration. They provide schools, homes, clean water, food, medical care and safety to thousands of children in tragically poor countries.
£2 pays for life-saving vaccinations for a mother and her child.
£5 pays for an orphan to attend a vocational training centre and work towards a qualification and a chance for a brighter future.
£400 pays to install a water pump in a village so that cildren have access to clean, safe water.
If you still need convincing this is what I face...
KILIMANJAROKili stands just under FOUR miles VERTICALLY above the surrounding land. It's a pretty hardcore climb and given that I have done pretty much no sport since leaving Woldingham that means I have a few months of training runs to look forward to!
The summit is less than 2,000 metres below the level of 'THE DEATH ZONE' a point where humans physically cannot survive.Temperatures range from 40C at the bottom, to -20C at the top!
It is the highest point in Africa and the highest freestanding mountain in the world! But, as many of you know, I rarely give up or give in and I am determined to make it to the summit. After the 7 day climb I then have the opportunity to see where our money goes and visit the local communities that Childreach work with.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: ChildReach International gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please donate what you can, this will be such an amazing experience for me and your money will help a lot of underprivileged children.
Thank you for reading this!
Haddy
