The Haller Foundation supports some of the poorest communities in Kenya. Our policy is to educate and train the communities, over a 5 year period, in all aspects self-sufficiency. We show them how to farm their land, harvest water and provide them with a much needed education from pre-school age upwards.
We have built a health clinic, including an out-reach program, a library, community kitchens running on bio-gas and encouraged the people to set up nano-enterprises in order to support themselves.
Other initiatives include: providing repro-rulers and wristbands to girls and women to help them understand fertility and their cycles and solar lamps for the brightest students to encourage them to work from home in the evenings, when they have no electricity.
