Ten of us based at Hammerson's London offices will be taking on the Three Peaks Challenge over the weekend of the 22nd and 23rd August 2009 in order to raise money for Kids Company, a children's charity based in London that does amazing work with some of the capital's most vulnerable and disadvantaged children.
For those of you who haven't heard of it, taking this particular challenge means we have to climb and descend Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon (the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales respectively) over a 24 hour period.
Yes, we think it's going to be (rock)hard too!
Kids Company provides practical, emotional and educational support to vulnerable inner-city children and young people. Most of the children who seek their help suffer from emotional and behavioral difficulties that are a consequence of being neglected, abused and traumatised. Many are ‘lone children’ living in chronic deprivation, with limited or no support from the adults in their family. By developing a sustained and loving relationship, tailored to the needs of the individual child, Kids Company help children overcome their experiences of abuse so that they can go on to lead meaningful and productive lives.
