Story
Tracing the impossibly steep route of the 18th stage of the Tour de France the L’Etape du Tour leads cyclists on a gruelling 148 kilometre journey through the French Pyrenees. A mountain range with a reputation for defeating even the most accomplished of athletes this race, from Pau to Hautacam, will push competitors to their limits, as they attempt to conquer punishing ascents, high speed descents and seemingly endless flats.
This year I will be one of the lycra clad athletes on the start line! And come the 20th July, I will have first hand experience of the challenges associated with the L’Etape du Tour.
But why am I taking up this challenge? Riding in my capacity as an Action for Kids ambassador, a charity which supports and empowers young disabled people to, and upon, their transition to living independently. I hope to use this race as a platform to maximise public awareness of the work the charity does to remove the social barriers which afflict these young people. Whilst, simultaneously raising as much money as possible to enable the continuation of their important work. So please support this worthy cause and donate now.
