My personal message:

I am training for the EDF half-marathon in Birmingham on October 26. I have decided to try to raise a bit of money for FORWARD because the horrific things women are forced to go through in some African countries simply should not happen. Some of the stories on the FORWARD website about forced child marriage and female circumcision will make you want to cry.

For a blog on all the problems me and my boyfriend have getting into shape (I'll be the main one having the problems!) for the race see http://blogs.birminghammail.net/roadrunner. And yes, I am aware I look very short and squat running next to him - he is 6ft 4in!!

You can read more about FORWARD at www.forwarduk.org.uk.
