Harley is currently 5 years old and has being dignosed with Duchenne since September 2011, Harley has been on daily steriods since January 2012 - our just giving site is purely setup to raise as much money as possible to fund research into finding a cure to Duchenne

What is Duchenne Muscular Dustrophy?

Duchenne muscular dystrophy is a serious condition that causes progressive muscle weakness. In Duchenne muscular dystrophy muscle fibres break down and are replaced by fibrous and or fatty tissue causing the muscle to gradually weaken. 

Is there a treatment or cure?

Unfortunately no cure has yet been discovered. Despite promising research into the condition, at the present time, the only treatment that experts recommend to slow the decline in muscle strength and mobility is steroids. However, there are many possible side-effects which must be carefully managed.
