I climbed Kilimanjaro and made it to the top. Read what happened whilst on the climb and at the local school.
The hardest thing I have done so far is over. In the last 5 - 6 months I have gone from someone being very overweight and not able to run 1 mile to loosing 2 stone and completing the Ipswich Half Marathon with a time of 2:40:41. Not as quick as I had hoped but I am very pleased I finished, it was also a lot harder than I thought it would be, Kilimanjaro is going to be hard! Many thanks to all the public for cheering all the runners along the whole of the route.
The training and fund raising is going well so thanks to all who have help me over the past few moths and those that will be helping. The Orwell walk was hard work but I completed the 25 miles in around 7 hours and with the walking to the event I managed around 28 miles in total! With the Ipswich Half Marathon on 29th August I'm hoping to raise more money and awareness for such a great cause so please help where you can.
I'm climbing Kilimanjaro to raise money for the Town Kids trust. I'm currently unfit and overweight so this is going to be a real challenge for me! Not only am I climbing Kilimanjaro but I will be taking part in the 25 mile Orwell Walk and the Ipswich half marathon. All monies raised will be helping children and families in Ipswich so all money stays local.
Please help out as much as possible even if it's a pound. As the advert says, every little helps.
For information regarding the Town Kids Trust visit www.justgiving.com/town102, Town 102 or Hawk Express Cabs.
Not only will the money raised help local children but the area surrounding Mount Kilimanjaro is home to some of Tanzania’s poorest communities, and the schools are in dire need of assistance, which this challenge will help to provide. Whilst acclimatising in preparation for the climb, I will spend 2 - 3 days helping on a range of projects at a local school, including renovating classrooms, clearing land for sports and recreation and restoring furniture – as well as spending time with the pupils of course!
So please dig deep and donate now.
