HCPT takes thousands of children with disabilities or special needs on a pilgrimage holiday to Lourdes in France. The children travel in small family-style groups with experienced volunteer helpers, doctors, nurses and chaplains. The Trust has a house in the mountains outside Lourdes for people of all ages with disabilities.

My story

The HCPT takes over 2,000 children with disabilities or social or emotional needs on a holiday to France each year during Easter week. Group 30 takes a small number of these children. The aim is to give the children a wonderful and fun filled holiday within a group that soon feels like a family. The experience away from home, family and daily routine sees the children develop and grow into their individual characters and they return home no longer being owned by their disability or circumstance.

Every year we organise and host a number of fundraising events in order to raise the money to take the children to Lourdes. The first of these events is a 13 mile sponsored walk which we will be doing in June.

All sponsorship money raised will go towards paying for the children's fares. It costs in the region of £750 per child for the fare alone, the helpers pay their own fares.

If met, our fundraising target for this walk will send five children to Lourdes allowing them each to have a fantastic and memorable week.
