Why your donation matters

Imagine waking up and not recognising your own child, not remembering your family or friends and having to re-learn your life!

Every day more than 2,500 people in the UK suffer a brain injury. It can happen to anyone, anywhere at any time and is the foremost cause of death and disability in young people.

The injury can happen in a split second, but the effects can last a lifetime. Families are left to care for a “stranger” who is dependent on their support.They feel alone, believing there is no one with whom they can share their fears or ask for help.

The Headway Centre in Colchester provides vital services to help rehabilitate survivors of brain injury and provide much needed respite for carers. Our Community Support Service helps over 300 families across Essex.
