Why your donation matters
Heart n Soul makes a huge difference to the lives of people with learning disabilities. Around 1.5 million people in the UK have a learning disability and they are one of the most excluded groups in our society. Heart n Soul aims to raise £25,000 by our 25th anniversary in December this year to continue to reach people in need, touching and changing their lives.
We create original art that touches and changes people's lives. We support people to become more independent through our pioneering training and employment opportunities. We offer a range of taking part opportunities for people from 10-60 years old.
We want to help more people with learning disabilities achieve their potential. Please donate now.
Case study: donations in action
Lizzie Emeh is one of Heart n Soul’s key artists. She made history in 2009 as the first solo artist with a learning disability to release an album in the UK. She also won the Radar Arts Award in 2010 for her achievements:
“I knew I wanted to be a singer, but didn’t think it was something I could do as a career. Heart n Soul changed all that. I’ve performed across Europe and to South Korea, I’ve met Nelson Mandela and I’ve made my first album, which is an incredible feeling. When I walk down the street now, I don’t get any abuse, infact people come up to me and say “well done Lizzie”. I see music as a way to touch people and show others what learning disabled people can do.”
