About my charity : Dogs For The Disabled Dogs For The Disabled
Dogs for the Disabled trains dogs to help disabled people live life more independently. Each dog is trained in practical tasks such as opening and closing doors, helping a person undress, even emptying the washing machine. In addition they provide confidence, companionship and break down barriers to the outside world.

My personal message:

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Dogs For The Disabled will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Dogs for disabled help people less fortunate than ourselves with the most mundane tasks that most of us take for granted. Opening doors, putting on socks, taking the washing out of the machine and many more.

Imagine settling down to read your favourite mag with a nice cuppa and some chocolate only to drop your specs on the floor - you can not reach down to pick them up because you are disabled, how annoying!  But what if you can call your trusty canine friend who will trot in happily with tail wagging and pick them up for you.  Problem sorted!!

They also train dogs especially to help disabled children.  They help build their confidence and improve eye/hand co-ordination plus the dogs can carry their books home from school!

Your money will help the charity provide this much needed assistance.

The Desert Walk is a 5 day, 105km  trek from the Dead Sea to Petra across the challenging terrain of the Jordanian Desert, sleeping in tents with no bathroom facilities!

Most of you will know that I run the local branch of Barking Mad, arranging fantastic holidays for lucky dogs.  Well, any that stay with me in the next few months had better be fit because we will be doing lots of walking together!

Please, please help me reach my target - I won't get much sleep until I do! Even though the walk is not until March, the target has to be reached by the end of the year.

I will have to start training big time so that I do not show myself up!

So please sponsor me now!

This page will be updated regularly so feel free to look again and see how I am doing.

Many thanks for your support.

A big thank you to everyone at Lattimers and the businesses in Shakespeare St for all your pledges.

Many thanks to the ladies of the 'Tuesday Club' & also Karl Vella Auto Body Repairs for their kind sponsorship.

17 Dec - Blimey!!  I have finally reached the target!  THANK YOU SO MUCH TO EVERYONE WHO HAS SPONSORED ME OR SUPPORTED MY FUNDRAISING EFFORTS. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO KEEP ON GIVING, GOING OVER THE TARGET IS NOT A PROBLEM!!

19 MARCH - I'm home, I made it!  Managed to complete the walk without injury or blisters!  You should have seen some of the mountains, yes mountains, they had us climbing.  It was no place for vertigo sufferers!  The terrain was really rocky and very hard on the ankles and knees but I got to Petra.  I am in the middle of writing a blog with photo's for you so see and as soon as I have sorted it I will let you know.

In the meantime, if you haven't sponsored me yet, why not!  I've done the challenge so get your hand in your pocket and give!!
