Heather bravely fought Breast Cancer for 2 and 1/2 years but sadly deteriorated very quickly over the past few months. When it was clear she could no longer care for herself she was admitted to the Nightingale Macmillan unit in December.
The Nightingale Macmillan Unit is a specialist palliative care unit of the cancer services directorate of the Derbyshire Royal Infirmary, London Road, Derby.
It offers comprehensive facilities for in-patients and day-care patients, a lymphoedema clinic plus out-patient and volunteer home sitting services and a Home Care team comprising of the consultants, the Unit's social worker and community Macmillan Nurses.
The nurses in the Unit did everything possible to make Heather's brief time with them as comfortable as possible and also took time to talk to us and offer their support. We would like to thank the unit by raising funds to support their valuable work.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to donate as Friends Of The Nightingale Macmillan Unit gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Thank you for your support.
