UPDATE:
Hi everyone, I made it - I did the swim in 43mins 27 secs. Which I am chuffed about as I beat my best time that I had done it in the pool by 5 mins. I really enjoyed it - perhaps my new hobby?

Hello everyone,

I am doing the Great North Swim which is a mile long swim in Lake Windermere in the Lake District. Yes it is going to be cold, yes I am going to swallow some lovely lake water but yes it is going to be fun! I am training hard in the pool but I don't think that will quite prepare me for swimming with loads of people in a lake! So please sponsor me..... I am raising money for Spurgeons, my Mum and Dad recently went over to Uganda and saw first hand  the good work they are doing with children and families over there as well as doing some good work themselves so I know the money raised will be well spent.
