Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page which I set up to to raise funds for Oxfam because of their lifesaving work in emergencies. 

The funds I raise are not earmarked for a specific project. However, here’s some examples of what your donation can “buy”:

 10 euros: Three buckets for fetching water

In an emergency, the humble bucket can become a lifeline. The Oxfam buckets, specifically designed for carrying and storing water, keep water clean and disease-free, while their taps ensure that none of the precious liquid goes to waste.

 

18 euros: A hygiene kit

Simple stuff like soap, a bucket and cotton wool keeps deadly diseases like cholera at bay during emergencies. When massive floods hit Pakistan in August 2010, Oxfam provided hygiene kits including soap, sanitary cloths and oral rehydration salts to help families to stay healthy.

 

63 euros: A communal toilet

These toilets can bring dignity to families in refugee camps and can stop the spread of deadly diseases. Click here for a 46 second video of building toilets in Pakistan.

 

96 euros: A whole year of clean water for a child

Every day, 4,000 children die from diarrhoea caused by dirty water. In emergencies, many more lives are put at risk by inadequate water supplies and poor sanitation. It's estimated that each person needs 15 litres of water per day for drinking, cooking, and washing in an emergency. This makes providing clean water a massive task requiring the sort of specialist skills and equipment Oxfam has.
