Hello and thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
I have never done anything as challenging as this before. At the age of 48 I am now the age at which my Dad, John Campbell Taylor, died. As a 14 year old, at the time, I thought 48 was quite old! Now I realise he was very young! I am doing this challenge in his memory. He died of a cardiac illness that he had unknowingly had probably since birth. Routine cardiac testing would have found it earlier and he may have lived to see my sister and I grow up and to live on into old age.
Preventable heart conditions kill between 4 and 8 ''fit and healthy'' young people per week in the UK. Many are very talented sports men and women. I am also doing this challenge in memory of one of them, Aaron Lundy who lived in Northern Ireland. He had the world at his feet when he died suddenly at 19 of a heart abnormality. His dad, John Lundy, has worked tirelessly with CRY since Aaron died to raise awareness and to get routine cardiac testing introduced into Northern Ireland to prevent further needless deaths.
I am currently training for this Vietnam to Cambodia cycling challenge and want to help this charity as much as I can so........................please dig deep and sponsor me online.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Cardiac Risk in the Young will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now!
Many thanks for your support. It will help to spur me on when the going gets tough .....which I am sure it will. The cycle ride is 400 kilometres in total and we are expected to need to drink between 8 and 15 litres of water per day in the heat and humidity of Vietnam and Cambodia!
