Ok firstly, thank you so much for even looking at my page and reading what I have to say (well hopefully you'll keep reading) about this charity. There's a caption on For Life (look left) so I'll try to avoid repeating myself!
This summer (2009) I'm working on a project in Thailand (Pakkred) where I'll be working with children who were born with disabilities and thus abandoned. The abandonement is often due to poverty, cultural and religious beliefs and also the stigma surrounding disability. But these disabilities might range from Cerebal Palsy through to something as minor as a missing toe or a cleft pallet.
The charity touches the lives of over 600 children through day-care centres, where volunteers can help out with teaching, working, playing, washing and cleaning. Basic day to day experiences which we take for granted but which are invaluable to the children's stimulation and development.
I would be so grateful if you could donate some pennies to my target. I'd like to make it clear though that I'm paying for my flight and living expenses from my own pocket, and that all the money I raise will be going to good use at the orphanage.
Thanks!
