Hello, My name is Sebastian Wilson Cooper. I am 6 years and 10 month and 10 days and 16 hours and 23 minutes old(when I am writing this with my dad).
I like playing rugby, running around, playing xbox, biking, football, tennis, and playing on my garden trampoline with my big brother Harley (11).
My mum and dad (I like to call them Tanya and Marc) are going to be running a long way to raise some money for the National Autistic Society. They have already started because they always go running and when they do my grandmas and grandads look after me and my big brother Harley.
On 27th June 2010 they ran the Humber Bridge Half Marathon and I was there to cheer them on (I like shouting really loud). After that they ran in some other big runs including the Walkington and Elloughton 10K's, the Bishop Wilton Half Marathon, the Wheeldale Tandem and in April 2011 they will run the Virgin London Marathon.
What is even better is that lots of other people are helping them too. All of the children at my dad's school (St Mary's College) are helping, Hull City AFC have been helping by letting us do a bucket collection and now my school are helping through the Westfield School Association.
They are all doing this to raise money for the National Autistic Society because in November 2009 we found out that I have Autism.
Not many people know much about autism so let me tell you what it means to me. Autism is sometimes cool and sometimes not cool.
My autism meant that it took me longer than other children to learn to speak, this means that I find it hard to understand what people are saying. I like to follow the same routine. This is cool because it means that we always have to drive the same way to school, I always need to know what is for packed lunch, I always like to watch the same bits of my favorite TV shows (Super League, X Factor and Britains Got Talent), I like to do the same things at the same time most days and I like to ask lots and lots and lots and lots of questions about what we have been doing and what we are going to do!
Autism is uncool when I find it hard to understand what people are saying. Sometimes I find it hard to express what I mean because I can't always find the words. Sometimes people don't understand me. If I am in a situation which I am not used to I get really really anxious and sometimes panic. Some people think I am being naughty but I am just worried, thankfully Tanya and Marc and Harley are always there to help me.
I hope you can spare a few pence to help Tanya and Marc. They are really proud of me and want to help people understand autism and help other children who's autism.
See you soon
Seb Wilson Cooper
