I'm asking for your support for your local cancer charity - Tenovus. As you probably know my family has several brushes with this terrible illness, with the latest one being my father's cancer diagnosis in June 2009. Thankfully, after extensive surgery he's now in remission and is doing well.....he's one of the lucky ones!
February 2009 saw the launch of the world’s first Mobile Cancer Care Unit, delivering chemotherapy and patient support in the heart of local communities in .
The Tenovus vision is a future where fewer people get cancer; and everyone with cancer will have equal access to excellent treatment and support. Cancer incidence in is 22% higher than the average, with 46 people a day being diagnosed with cancer. Tenovus are determined to change these statistics and improve the quality of life of cancer patients in . Their specialist cancer support team will bring care to the heart of our communities through: practical support, advice on money matters, counselling, prevention, research and education through a series of mobile units and network of local support centres.
On Saturday May 8 we will be holding a Spring Ball at the Holiday Inn, . The evening will consist of a four course dinner, entertainment with a DJ and a live band, a raffle and an auction. There are several ways in which you could be part of helping to raise funds for this wonderful charity and to place cancer care at the heart of communities in :
