We are running the Royal Parks Half Marathon on October,11 2009. We will be sweating for Target Tuberculosis ( www.targettuberculosis.org.uk ).
TB has recently been declared as a global emergency alongside Malaria and HIV/AIDS, and is the biggest killer of HIV/AIDS patients. There are approximately 9 million new cases a every year and the disease kills more than 2 million people a year, despite it being easily preventable and curable. Anyone can get TB but for those living in poverty it is more of a reality as malnutrition and poor living conditions increase the risk of being infected. TB is the biggest killer of young women worldwide and there are more than 900 million women infected worldwide and in fact, there is more TB in the world today than ever before, so we really appreciate your support.
