Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Amazingly we all safely completed the run (what a fantastic atmosphere!) and there is still time for you to pledge a donation online... As a team, including all our pools, it looks like we've raised almost £3,000.00!!!  Thank you everyone.

Suddenly, late last year, despite feeling ok, I was told I had cancer, and later, after a nerve racking time finding the source and severity of my cancer (base of tongue), I was rushed through some pretty intensive chemotherapy and radiotherapy. I was humbled by the many cards wishing me well, and the support of my fellow patients.

It probably goes without saying that the condition and treatment is pretty hard to get through, psychologically and physically - but it is not impossible. There are so many people receiving treatment every day, many with no hope of recovery, and their stories and comradery really opened my eyes. Although I hope to make a full recovery (fingers crossed), not everyone is so lucky.

Personally, I found the information supplied by Cancer Research UK really helpful in getting me through the treatment - concuring the facts with my doctors prognosis. Today, unfortunately it's impossible to tell if I am free of the cancer, but I am at least feeling much better, and together with some members of my close family (whose support was illimitable), we would like to help cancer patients in the future, by running for Cancer Research UK.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Cancer Research UK will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks for your support.

P.S. Pictured from left to right, is Gary, Julie, Martin and Wendy after the "warm up" Wheldrake 10k run on 17th June 2006 (Linda is missing with an ankle injury due to the training). The Great North Run is 13.1 miles, over twice the distance, so there's a lot more hard work to put in!!!
