First of all let us introduce ourselves; we are Neil Jones, Robert Caulfield, Carolyn Clare and Jose Ivars-Lopez and on behalf of HiFX Europe Ltd we are planning to cycle to Paris in May as a team to support a charity close to the companies heart; Myeloma UK.

A dear friend and former colleague Bob Munro was diagnosed with Myeloma, a rare and incurable form of bone marrow cancer, 4 years ago. After 18 months of 4 failed treatments a brand new drug started to work for him. Whilst he is nowhere near free of this disease the Myeloma has become more manageable and therefore allows him to live a more normal day to day life.

Unfortunately Myeloma is a relapsing and remitting cancer which will eventually overcome the drugs ability to continue working, at this point Bob will only have one more licensed drug to try to keep him alive.

Bobs story is not uncommon unfortunately! Every myeloma patient knows; whether the initial treatment is currently working, whether a stem cell transplant has reduced the Myeloma levels to virtually indiscernible levels, or the patient has tried several treatments and the drugs are just about keeping the Myeloma under control; that sooner or later the cancer will come back stronger and a new drug or therapy will be required.

The good news is there are many game changing drugs in the pipeline; however, like all things, funds are urgently needed to accelerate their development.

As a team we are riding together to raise more awareness of this charity and to help raise funds so that further new drugs can be developed to help people just like Bob.

The route covers 320 miles in four days and as a team we have a vast array of cycling experience. So as you can imagine we would be extremely grateful for any donations to motivate us to reach the finishing line in Paris and raise as much money and awareness for this extremely worthwhile cause.
