This August we are attempting to travel to in a banger. The journey will begin on Wednesday 26th August and, hopefully, end on Sunday 31st August.
Our Car: We are having slight technical issues with our car in that the car we bought broke down two days later. Fingers crossed on this front.
Our Theme: Our theme is Peter Pan. We have a varied guest line up with Peter Pan, Tinker Bell and their evil arch enemy, Captain Hook postponing personal differences all in aid of the Sucata Run. Peter Pan's biggest fan will rise from the dead to make a special guest appearance.
Our Charity: With the money raised by Sucata Run this year Gemin-i are planning to run a project to raise awareness of Malaria. Students from over 100 schools around the globe will be able to explore the topic using the case study of , where it is the biggest killer of children under five. They will explore the reasons why so many people still die from malaria and what is being done by humanitarian aid agencies to prevent this.
Through participation in this project, young people will be able to join the global effort against malaria. They will hear stories of how governments and aid organisations are fighting the disease, they will talk to other children in affected regions, and they will be given the opportunity to design their own awareness raising campaign on the theme of malaria prevention.
If we raise £1000, this will pay for five schools to take part in the project. The more schools that we can involve, the bigger an impact we can have around the world.
