About Hope for Children

Hope for Children (HOPE) was officially registered as a Charity in 1994 to coincide with the International Year of the Family. It is a non-sectarian, non-political and non-profit making organisation. HOPE's aims and objectives are to assist children, who suffer through being handicapped, orphaned, poor and exploited, in particular those living in developing countries. This is achieved through providing, promoting and advancing children's rights to basic necessities, including education and health care, aimed at sustaining their long term development.

Their Mission

To improve the quality of life and advance the rights of children. To bring about change for good on behalf of children and families, and encourage them to participate in processes which enhance their equality, self-reliance and long term sustainable development. Wherever possible to provide practical support which allows children to grow up within their own families and communities.

About Me (Stuart Macfarlane)

Having completed some 8 half-marathons, 8 10ks and a range of other runs during 2006 I have now reached the stage of insanity to tackle both the London, Edinburgh & Loch Ness Marathons in 2007.

Wish me luck . . . and please give a little to Hope for Children.

UPDATE: I completed the London Marathon in 4 hours 45 minutes in the torturous heat. The weather for the Edinburgh Marathon was typical Scottish weather - rain and winds - much better for running. My time was 4 hours 15 minutes

Thanks Stuart
