What we're doing
Imagine the quietest, fastest, safest all-terrain vehicle in the world...Now imagine the complete opposite. Three wheels, half a horse power and really so not weatherproof, the Tuktuk (called so because of the noise it makes) is probably the smallest, least practical vehicle available in Asia. So it would probably be insane to try to race one 3000 plus Km across Thailand, Malaysia and the Indonesian archipelago, through dense Sumatran jungle and across ridiculous mountain tracks, over 2 weeks. So thats exactly what we're doing.
For adventure? Heck yes! of course! ... you know us - we're adventuresome types - but this time we're going boldly forward for even bigger and better reasons. Charity.
This adventure is in aid of two charities, so you good good people get to choose which you want to donate to, to get that warm fuzzy feeling in return - and for an even warmer fuzzier feeling inside, you can donate to both!
Who we're doing it for
Help disabled children! - As St. Lucians, we are raising money towards the construction of the new Dunottar School for the developmentally disabled in St. Lucia. This school provides specialist tuition and treatment for children who are mentally and physically challenged, challenges the stigmas of disabilities and gives disabled children in St. Lucia a chance to fulfill their potential. Both Sean and Nick are supporters of the school, and this project is particularly close to Sean, as he has given his time as an architect for free to design the new school. The school is currently housed in a converted historical building which whilst being picturesque, is really not adequate for its purpose. The government of St. Lucia has provided some land for a new school, and with your help we can get the new school built. If you want to donate to this project, please donate on this page - - Thank you for helping us by donating.
Save the rainforest! Conserve the Harapan rainforest in Sumatra - Whilst it is part of the condition of us entering the race that we raise £500 for this particular charity, we're happy to do so. Not because our race crosses Indonesia, of which Sumatra is part, so it's pretty apt that this is one of our causes, but because conserving the rainforest benefits us all globally. Because Harapan is a Sumatran based project, Birdlife International has partnered with them to collect the money on their behalf. If you want to donate to the Harapan project, please donate here: http://www.justgiving.com/hotfootingtoo
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send junk emails, and once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So if you're in the UK, it’s the most efficient way to donate - We raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity. So please dig deep and donate now.
Thanks for taking the time to read this, and thank you for donating to help our incredibly worthy causes! You can follow our progress on our blog and our facebook page. (hopefully we can update them as we hurtle across South East Asia ).
