I am raising funds and awareness of Huntingdon's Disease - my friend's brother, Len, has Huntingdon's Disease and his life has totally changed. (Please read details opposite.) My friend also now has a 50% chance of inheriting HD as it is hereditary.
Huntingdon's Disease is a genetic disorder of the central nervous system, usually affecting people in their 30's and caused by a faulty gene. Each person whose parent has Huntingdon's Disease has a 50:50 chance of inheriting the faulty gene. Anyone who inherits this gene will at some stage, develop the disease, which robs a person of everything:- balance, speech, swallowing, even family and friends as it also affects the mind, causing behaviour problems, depression and eventually dementia - a slow and distressing death.
