Between now and October 2009 I am attempting to complete a long list of challenges and races. While I'm busy doing all this, it would be nice to raise a bit of money for some worthy charities; Macmillian Cancer Support and Partners
in around 15 days over several legs (267 mile National Trail from the Peak District to the Scottish Border)
~Summit the British 3 peaks in under 24 hours (I’ll be assisting a team of 18 hikers, providing navigation advice and general guidance)
~Great North Run in around 1h 30min (This will require some serious training)
I'll also throw in a few adventure races along the way including:
~Polaris (2 day mountain bike orienteering event - completed)
Rat Race (2 day urban race on foot, bike, kayak, rope etc)
~The OMM (Original Mountain Marathon - 2 days carrying all our kit, racing over some hills in Wales somewhere, about 15-18 miles each day)
~Hell Runner (11 mile trail run over muddy tracks, through muddy water and up muddy hills) and possibly a few more!
Now this is where you come in, I need you to dig deep and donate. I am raising money for:
Macmillian Cancer Support improves the lives of people affected by cancer. They provide practical, medical, emotional and financial support and push for better cancer care (£400 target)
Partners works to raise awareness of the plight of and provide relief for the internally displaced people and refugees of (£100 target)
If you wish to donate to Partners, please do so through this page. To donate to Macmillian, please follow this link to my other page.
I think it's also worth noting that I have covered the cost of all event entries myself. Every penny you donate will go to the charity of your choice. If you’re a taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation. Finally npower will match £4£ the total we raise (before Gift Aid), making your donation go twice as far. So for every £1 you donate, £2.27 will go to the charity!!
Thanks in advance for your support.
Ian
PS. Atacama Desert Challenge 2011 is in the pipeline. Keep an eye out for how plans progress.
