AFRINSPIRE supports indigenous African initiatives in community development and poverty reduction. Engaging in children’s education, women's literacy, transferring technology, and income generation, AFRINSPIRE supports local community development initiatives at their own pace. People and projects are supported in Uganda, Rwanda, Zambia, Ethiopia, Tanzania, and Sudan.
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page for AFRINSPIRE. In a recent visit to Africa I saw what is being achieved by Afrinspire partners. Lives are being transformed. I saw homesteads where the livelihood of families has been improved in simple practical ways as a result of the adult literacy programme and the community self-help groups. I saw water tanks which serve communities with clean water for the first time. I visited disabled people in rural areas who are being assisted to overcome the stigma and disadvantage they’ve experienced because of their disability. I heard a lot of thanks and gratitude to Afrinspire from many people.
A small amount of money can achieve an incredible return in when used carefully as a catalyst for development, and I would like to help the Afrinspire partners do so much more.
By the time you are reading this I will have taken part in the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge on 20th June to raise funds for AFRINSPIRE. The walk is 26 miles long over rough terrain and takes in the three peaks of Pen-Y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough. The course is difficult but I finished well inside the 12 hour target time.
