Story
Haven House Children's Hospice in Greater London needs £100,000 to open its last five beds. I am running help them raise that money.
The hospice is a "haven" where children with a life-limiting or terminal illness are cared for in a way that reassures them and where they are treated like a child and not a patient. I became a Patron of the Haven House Foundation in 1998. Since last summer when it opened its first four bedrooms, it has provided palliative and respite care to over 40 children and families.
Children's hospices receive little support from the Government and the health service, they rely almost entirely on charitable contributions. Haven House costs around £1 million a year to run and is 95% dependent on support from the public. These children rely on your good will.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Haven House Foundation will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.
P.S. Sadly since my last visit to Haven House, Bradley whose smiling face appears in the picture with me, died. He suffered from a life-limiting condition and needed 24 hour a day care. Bradley had just celebrated his 18th birthday. Because he so epitomises the reasons for Haven House and why more children need greater access to the wonderful care that he benefited from, I am dedicating this run to his memory. Many thanks for your support.
