As we are in the month of Ramadan, many of us will be gearing up to pay our zakah. However, did you know that one of the areas you can give your zakat is to dawah?
The Qur’an states that amongst one of the eight categories of those who can receive zakat are those whose hearts would be inclined to Islam. Allah (swt) mentions in the Qur’an.
“Zakah expenditures are only for the poor and for the needy and for those employed to collect [zakah] and for bringing hearts together [for Islam] and for freeing captives [or slaves] and for those in debt and for the cause of Allah and for the [stranded] traveller – an obligation [imposed] by Allah. And Allah is Knowing and Wise.”(9:60)
With this in mind, iERA has set up a Zakat Fund, geared towards supporting the new-Muslims. Supporting new Muslims with your zakat has many benefits. Reverts are often a neglected group amongst the Muslim community, and supporting them at the crucial stage following their coming to Islam is extremely important.
By supporting them to become strong believers, they will also become major contributors to their local communities, and in fact will give zakah and sadaqah to help other less fortunate Muslims.
Your Zakat will go towards the following areas:
New Muslim Welcome Pack - This provides new Muslims with the basic essentials to start learning and practicing their deen.
National Support Network - Every new Muslim is assigned to a local community who act as mentors.
‘Islam Essentials’ course - This is delivered through regional organisations.
New Muslim Retreat - The retreat is spread over 4 days and is residential. It gives new Muslims a solid foundation in their deen by bringing them in an environment where they experience brotherhood and sisterhood whilst deepining their relationship with Allah (swt) and Islam.
Your zakat can make all the difference - please view the videos.
Jazakallahu Khairan
