My story

*****UPDATES AT BOTTOM OF PAGE*****
Hi Ya,

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

Just to let you know what's happening, I've decided to do a sponsored shark dive for a charity called DeafBlind .

In case you don't know, Deafblind is a national charity that offers tons of services and support to people with combined sight and hearing loss, no matter their age or situation.

So, that's the charity and I'm doing a dive, what else do you need to know... Oh yeah! I can't swim!!!

And just to fill in the picture for you all a little more, the event takes place in a sealife centre somewhere and when I asked if these things ever go wrong, they refused to answer!

From what I could gather, most people who do it can swim but apparently they can't see it being a major problem as we will need to be near the bottom of the tank anyway!

Also, just to add to the not being able to swim thing, I hate fish... Even the little guppies my mum has, completely freak me out.

Then to make things worse when I went to see my doctor to see if I was healthy enough to do this dive she just laughed as she signed me off, wished me good luck and said "Let's hope you don't have to try and escape anything cause you might not make it!!!"

Hhhmmm... Just writing this is making me kack myself so I'm refusing to research into it anymore in case I freak out too much!

I'm not sure what kind of training to do... I'm currently practicing my floating technique in the bath, I'm thinking worst case, I can just float to the top and hope someone scoops me out or something...

So, if you're a friend of mine and you like me, please sponsor me so I can do something good for the charity Deaf Blind UK.

And, if you don't like me, why not sponsor me anyway as the money will go to a fantastic charity and on the positive side if I don’t drown I could get eaten alive!

It's a win win situation really...

So, please dig deep and sponsor me online.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Deafblind will receive your money faster and, if you are a taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks for your support, big love...

Imran

***UPDATE*** 1/6/08
Hi All,

My Shark dive date has been moved! The place doing the dive has had to move the date, but unfortunately the date they gave me I can't make so the only option was to not do it or do it on my own... And I'm sure you know which one I decided to do!

However my "friends" have decided it would be a great idea if I went solo.

So here I sit waiting for a solo shark dive...

The new date is Saturday the 23rd of August!!!

Hi All,

Did you ever do biology at school? If you did, do you remember picking up the little frogs from the tank? As you lifted them up, what you saw was a pair of spindly long legs then a round belly, then the rest of it's body?

Well... that's how I imagine myself looking in a wet suite, if I don't use this extra month to loose some weight! So along with my practicing of my advanced floating technique, I've decided to start jogging to try a loose the belly before the dive... First day TODAY!!!

***UPDATE*** 9/6/08

Hi All,

Due to comments made below, I've just called to check about the cage... It seems that... THERE IS NO CAGE!!!

It's just me and a bunch of sharks!!!

***UPDATE***

I'VE DONE IT!!!

Yes, one and all... The day has come and gone and I did it!

And I must say it was one of the most amazing experiences EVER!

To say that I was scared would be and understatement! Oddly it wasn’t the fish or the sharks that did it.  It was the actual scuba diving bit…

People aren’t supposed to breath under water so doing it is the oddest thing in the world.

However once I got the hang of that it was fine. The fish were cool and the sharks were unbelievably huge.

I’ve got some pics (not too many as camera broke) and I’ve also got some video.

I'm going to cut it into the cool clips then send you all a link so you can see it. I promise to leave in the bit where I kack myself and nearly leave the tank!

So finally till then I just want to say thank you to everyone who sponsored me and to those who are still about to.

You guys are great and I really appreciate it!

Big hugs…

Ims
