Justgiving Appeal Ending Fundraising has gone well, but this doesn't mean WLT is slowing down. This summer (2010) over £100,000 was raised through the Elephant Family's Elephant Parade, and WLT's two elephants. This money will be added to this appeal's total helping us to reach our target. *Although this appeal page is reaching its closing date, fundraising is ongoing and there are many more corridors we could help protect.* So please donate now using WLT's donation pages.
The project
The World Land Trust (WLT) is working with the Wildlife Trust of India (WTI) to safe-guard traditional migration routes for Indian elephants. The aim is to create protected corridors to enable elephants to move safely between existing protected areas. Of course, these corridors provide a safe habitat for many other species of endangered wildlife, including tiger. For donations of £25 or more we’ll be delighted to send a pdf certificate recording your donation. To request your certificate please e-mail info@worldlandtrust.org quoting the Justgiving donation reference number that appears on your confirmation e-mail. To make a gift donation on behalf of somebody else to the Elephant Corridor Project please call the WLT office on +44 (0) 1986 874422.
Together with WTI we have already successfully created a wildlife corridor in the Garo Hills of Meghalaya in , and the protection of a vital corridor in Kerala, in the south, is almost complete. Elephants wasted no time in reclaiming these lands as their own, and are now seen regularly using both corridors. So please support this appeal and help threatened species such as Asian elephants and tigers. The Wildlife Trust of India (WLT’s partners in ) has already shown that corridors really work.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. And, if you’re a taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
