In order to raise funds and awareness for two chosen charities, a group of friends from Cambridge have decided to embark on a trek challenge (Peru Inca Trail) in October 2010.
The chosen charities are Cambridge based "Cam Sight", UK based "RP - Fighting Blindness" and "Great Ormond Street Hospital" as well as South American based "ALALAY"As many people are aware, there are costs attached to a trek challenge, but the group have set out to raise the funds needed for the actual trek through self planned events (which will also drive awareness to the charities themselves) leaving any personal and corporate sponsorship as well as collections to be directed straight to the charities. £2000 of this page target will be direct for the charity itself.
The group are also encouraging anyone wishing to help raise funds and awareness to get in touch, and organise their own events, from simple raffles right through to fully organised music events. Any companies/promoters willing to donate a percentage of a day/event will be given as much publicity in return as possible. The challenge will also be highly featured in local media throughout the year.
