Case study: donations in action

In Harmony Liverpool is working with disadvantaged children in Faith Primary School in West Everton to teach them classical music and the results have been dramatic.

Faith Primary School is in the most deprived local authority area in England. Child poverty is 3 times the national average, 85% of pupils are eligible for free school meals, overall educational achievement is low and many children suffer from poor emotional wellbeing.

After 2 years with the In Harmony programme, Literacy improved from 38% to 82% and Numeracy improved from 37% to 78% - and the school improved its Ofsted rating. In addition, the children’s self-confidence, behaviour and social skills were transformed.

The Headteacher of Faith Primary said: “In Harmony is transforming the school and has brought a new energy to our community. The project is changing the lives of our pupils in unexpected ways. It has given them more purpose in life. It’s a miracle.”
