Okay let's see, so I have done many different events over the last 10 years. It all started with a desire to one day complete the London marathon before I turned 40 yrs old.  The first time I started to train for it I caught pneumonia and ended up with a collapsed lung back in 2002.  Eventually I got kick started in 2004 with the half marathon Great North run. Not fast but a very enjoyable experience. Following that 2005 the London marathon at the age of 39 yrs 5 months, so just scraped in before the 40 yrs old deadline. After football  injuries I went into swimming to recover. Somehow I ended up do the English channel solo swim. Next bumping into my cousin Valerie place I was talked into a sprint triathlon. That developed into an Olympic distance then full Ironman somewhere along the line.  I realise I am slow on the bike and never put enough time into it.  So I have found this very new event to float my boat.  ISOMAN is very similar to ironman, the difference is the distances for each discipline has been evened out.  ISOMAN suits me better as the swim section is 2 and a half  times longer and the cycle section cut shorter by 50 miles, albeit still 61.3 miles.   So hopefully I will enjoy this event quite a bit. My place has been secured by the charity as I have pledged a minimum of 1k rather than just paying an entry slot.
