Himalayan Bicycle Expedition · 4 December 2008

In remote rural areas of Africa and Asia, access to a decent education is the key to a better future. Our funds aim to improve the infrastructure to equip rural children to break out of the cycle of poverty. We build and refurbish classrooms, washrooms, water tanks and libraries. Help us build more!

Story

By raising £5000 we aim to radically improve the infrastructure of six impoverished Indian primary schools.

We'll be doing a two week bicycle expedition along the infamous Manali – Leh Highway in Ladakh, India. The team during this time will be unsupported and will carry all their own equipment and supply their own food. The team will travel over 600km (375 miles) over some of the world’s highest motorable passes ascending to altitudes above 5000 metres and have to cope with the obstacles of altitude sickness, crumbling roads and freezing night time temperatures.

All the money raised will go towards providing six remote Indian primary schools with books, classroom equipment and construction materials. For more details see www.indianschoolsproject.co.uk
