ITP Coast to Coast Cycle Ride · 28 April 2009

Transaid transforms lives through safe, available, and sustainable transport. As an international development organisation that shares transport expertise with partners and governments, Transaid empowers people to build the skills they need to transform their own lives.

Story

We at ITP are (attempting) to cycle coast to coast and back in Devon this September.  We will be cycling around 150 miles over three days tackling some rather daunting hills on route.  Since we announced our planned cycle ride, we have received some rather daunting advice, for example:

‘a word of warning.......... I rode the Exmoor part of your ride last November in a race and it was the closest I've ever come to stopping riding and (god forbid) PUSHING my bike up a hill!.....not sure they even bother putting the % gradient on signs round there!.......apparently they are the highest cliffs in England!’

This was reinforced by an article in The Times that suggested: 'You know the feeling: every time you think you have scaled the mountain, you turn another bend and see it still towering before you.  That is how it is in North Devon: inexorably so’

We will be ably supported by Nick and Rebecca who are in charge of food, water, first aid and taking embarrassing photos of the cyclists.  Upon our return these photos will be shared with anyone kind enough to sponsor us!

We are very grateful to Bourne Leisure who are providing accommodation on route so weary cyclists can get a good night’s sleep.

Our chosen charities are Transaid and the NSPCC (www.justgiving.com/itp_nspcc), feel free to donate to whichever you choose, all donations are greatly appreciated!

Thank you in advance for your donation.
