Story
So this time I've managed to rope even more people into helping me raise money for Go Commando.
In January this year my friend Kirsty and I took part in a race to raise money for Go Commando and we were both overwhelmed with the support and donations given. I would like to say we had a great time but the conditions were horrible, however we knew we were raising money for such an amazing charity and we weren't going to let them down!
This charity is close to our heart as on 24th October 2012 an amazing member of the O'Connor family; Corporal David O'Connor was killed whilst on patrol in the Nahr-e Saraj district of Helman Province. Dave was and still is such an inspirational person and was an outstanding Marine. He is missed so much by his family and all his friends. It's because of Dave and the support given by Go Commando that I choose to raise money to help them continue with their good work. It's also because of them that I have managed to get some great friends to join me in this challenge and help raise money.
On 16th November 2013 we will be taking part in "survival of the fittest" this is a 10km route with over 20 obstacles to get over. I'm a sure that to a Royal Marine this challenge is nothing shy than a jog round the park, however I can honestly say that I'm already trying not to panic at the thought of getting over an 8foot wall and then down again. However as a team we shall complete it together, it's a state of mind after all!
I can't thank my friends enough for volunteering to taking part, although I'm sure that the thought of me getting the beers in after and the opportunity to throw me over a wall helped them with this decision, so thanks in advance to Russ Hewitt - ex Army, Kirsty and Carl Radley - ex Army, Liz Jeeves - Police, Danny Gasson - Police, Dave Calvert - Police, Lee McBride - Police Tara Fowley - Police and Liam O'Neill - Police.
