Arthritis is not just part of the ageing process or something that affects older people, but a condition which in its many forms affects about nine million people of all ages in the UK. Most people with arthritis will experience pain and difficulty moving around. Find out more at www.arthritiscare.org.uk 2) To raise funds for Arthritis Care to enable them to continue their amazing work to help and support sufferers to manage their arthritis and to lead full and active lives. It is not clear what causes arthritis and there is no cure at present. However, there are a number of options for people to help manage their condition and Arthritis Care provides essential information and support for sufferers and supporters all over the country. Discover more about how they help at, you guessed it, www.arthritiscare.org.uk. How your sponsorship could help: £50 could help Arthritis Care send information packs to five people, advising them of practical techniques to manage chronic arthritic pain. £100 would help Arthritis Care run a course like Challenging Arthritis for people with arthritis, in their own community £100 helps Arthritis Care to train a specialist information volunteer to support and advise people with arthritis in a supportive and informative way £150 pays for a person with arthritis to attend Arthritis Care's flagship, life-changing self-management course Challenging Arthritis £250 pays for helpline calls for a month enabling 800 people to get through to Arthritis Care and to receive the support they need £500 could pay for 6 parents of children with arthritis to attend a disability awareness workshop. £1,000 is enough to provide an information volunteer with display materials and information booklets for a whole year. £3,000 is enough to provide a pain management workshop for 10 people living with arthritis. Most of all it will help provide the energy, commitment and determination to drive me through this challenge and hopefully raise awareness of arthritis and some vital funds for Arthritis Care along the way to help them help other sufferers. Thank you To all of you that have taken the time to read this challenge and reasons. Why not find out more about Arthritis Care and their work at www.arthritiscare.org.uk and if you want to help me in my challenge, any sponsorship would be gratefully received, but most importantly spread the word about arthritis and help dispel the myths. Arthritis is not just a condition that affects people as they grow old and something just to live with. It is a condition which comes in over 200 forms affecting people of all ages, causing chronic pain and difficulty in movement. With the right management and support people with arthritis can still lead full and active lives.
