My story

You can also donate by text message by texting JAID95 and your amount £1 -  £10 to 70070.

Jaiden was born 4 weeks early weighing 4lbs 15oz. Although he was only tiny he was very strong and didn't require any special care. He was a healthy, happy baby until he started having tummy ache and waking during the night in February 2012. A tummy bug followed and 2 weeks later he was still having tummy ache and waking during the night in pain. Jaiden was admitted to hospital and diagnosed with irritable hip which had been caused by the tummy bug and we were told it would heal on it's own. After a few weeks and numerous visits to the doctors Jaiden's left leg became swollen so we rushed him to A & E at which point they found a lump in his tummy. He was transferred to Leeds General Infirmary where he was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma Stage 4 in April 2012 aged just 20 months.

We were shocked to hear the news that Jaiden has cancer. At worst we thought he had a bowel infection. The thought of losing our beautiful boy is heart wrenching. He is our only child and our world.

Prior to diagnosis Jaiden was a very happy toddler. He loves Waybuloo, Mickey Mouse, Animals & Music (Ranging from Adele to comparethemarket.comtheme tune!). He dances to anything!

Jaiden has just finished round 4 of his initial chemotherapy and has a cast on his leg due to a pathological fracture caused by the Neuroblastoma spreading to his leg.

Although he currently is having treatment in the UK which will hopefully lead to Jaiden being in remission, 80% of children relapse and currently there is no curative treatment in the UK for relapses. Thankfully there are other treatments available around the world, but of course we have to pay for those. Families Against Neuroblastoma, the charity supporting this appeal have warned us that some treatments cost in excess of £500,000.

We hope that Jaiden will be in the 20% of children not to relapse, however, if this does happen we hope to have the funds readily available rather than have the added stress of having to raise such huge sum of money in such a short time period. Not being able to give him the treatment he needs due to lack of money is not an option which is why we are starting our appeal before we find ourselves in a desperate situation.

Please help support us and give our son the chance of a normal, happy childhood which he deserves.

Thank you.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

A donation to a child's individual appeal will be held for the sole use of that child for treatment or for quality of life. Should the child no longer need the money raised in their name, funds will either become available to other children within the charity, moved to our emergency fund, donated to Neuroblastoma research, donated to our general fund, or a combination of all four, as agreed with the family.
