Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Last November James (a young person in care) and Paul his carer had the privilege of joining a number of young people who live in care from around Scotland on a trek in the foothills of the Himalayas in Nepal (http://www.reaching-higher.org.uk).
It was a journey of extreme highs and extreme lows!Probably the most emotional experience we had was our visit to Chiti Tilahar school. Between 800-900 children go there every day, some walking 2 hours each way to a school that has limited resources, no running water and the most diabolical toilets we had ever seen. The children make this trip because they all know that the only way out of poverty is to gain an education.
The school, but more importantly the children made a huge impression on all the trekkers bringing many in the group to tears. We had never seen children and their teachers so proud of their school and children so enthusiastic about education.
There and then a decision was made to raise sufficient funds to install a clean water supply to the school. As well as clean water, we also intend to instal a sewage system and toilets.
This November James along with 3 other young people and their supportive adults will return to Chiti Tilahar School to help in the construction of the toilets and the installation of the sewage and CLEAN water supply.
Did you know that 20% of children in remote Nepal die before their 5th birthday due to the lack of clean water and insanitary toilet conditions!!
We are presently planning bag packing, home bakes, car washing, raffles to help us reach our target.
Please help us fulfil our target and dig as deep as you can.
Any contribution you make will be very much appreciated.
Please pass us around on facebook, Bebo etc.
Spread the word, not the butter!
Many, many thanks..
