HI!

Thank you for logging onto my home page and taking the time to learn about ME.

Spec:

As you know i plan on running the marathon in January for the first time in my life. Though I've put some intensive training in im no Forest Gump so this is going to be a mssive challenge and extremely tiring.

Why the marathon?

I chose the marathon because it's one of the greatest and universal human conquests in sports. Running was one of my greatest fears  as being an ex smoker of 20-40 a day i couldn't run the length of myself. So I've decided to embark on this challenge with a view to completion. Its really been quite a challenge for me long distance running.

But is the marathon a challenge?

I have strained most of my muscles in my legs at different times. Definately lost most of the skin around my heels as i wear trainers to the point of deterioration down to the plastic. buckled knee joints. Countless seessions with my physio on lower back pain. Applied dressing to my arm pits as the friction tends to make those areas sore. Had runners nipple plenty times its constant friction on a sensitive area, feels alot like a mild acid across that area. Who knows how many blisters theres been then the blisters on top of blisters. Ive been running in different countries, but 49C at the beach was my toughest run. I arrived 80kgs and got home 2 hours later 77kgs (from perspiration)Fatigue, dehydration, dizziness, out of breath. i'll stop here before i start rethinking!

What is ME?

It’s a chronic illness straining the cognitive, muscular and nervous system. It can cause people to be bedbound almost all the hours of a day and lasts for years. It’s tough for the victim and those around that person cause with all the will in the world even getting up and going to the shops is an almost impossible task lasting years in some cases. Affecting mainly women and presenting more cases than breast cancer in the west it is on the rise. In my line of work i have experienced over fatigue from flying as have you if you have done a long difficult flight. Its an overwhelming feeling of having no energy like having broken legs n wanting to go for a jog.

Why ME?

ME is a matter close to my heart since my Mum has had it for 9 years. I've experienced the heartache it can bring to not only her but the loved one's around my Mum. I feel this is the perfect opportunity to raise awareness of ME whilst raising money to finding  cure and prevention.
