Hi,

Some of you may be aware.......I have decided to take on this year’s Virgin London Marathon and raise as much money as I can for the Oxfam charity. If we can lift one person, then they will lift others and when you support Oxfam's life-changing work, unstoppable change takes root in communities around the world.

 I was kindly offered a running place through my company Heathrow Airport as I was unlucky to secure a balloted place back in October. This will be my 4th London Marathon and hopefully the last.......I feel I have reached the peak in my life now and have always wanted to attempt some sort of Guinness World record.....So...this April coming I will be running in my full fireman’s gear and Breathing Apparatus set. Yes and I know some of you have already thought of the words, Crazy, Mad, Stupid? lol That’s me !

Over the last few months I have been trying to build up the courage to contact the Guinness world record team and go ahead with this attempt ‘fastest marathon in a fireman’s uniform’...finally my application has been accepted and there’s no turning back now.....unless I don’t turn up! 

I did run the virgin London marathon back in 2010 in my fireman’s uniform but wore trainers.....so this time round it will be a completely different experience, one i am not looking forward to. For sure the boots are having a big impact on my feet and joints and on the day I guess it will be mind over matter. I'm not promising any new world record, but as long as I can come near to the current time then this would become a very proud moment in my life.
