1. Why does Mencap need its very own Santa?
Santa may well be magical enough to travel all over the world in a single night in a reindeer-powered sleigh and break into everyone’s houses without once getting done for it, but even he can’t keep track of all the good deeds performed at Mencap each year. Which is why he needs a little inside help…
2. What special qualities do you have that would make you the perfect Santa for 2007?
Well, given the alarming rate of child obesity in the UK these days, I think it’s important that Father Christmas sends the right image out to kids. The 21st century needs a slimmed-down Santa who can fit down those chimneys without any lubricant. Add to that my unmatched ability to hold my sherry, and I’m sure you’ll agree I’d make a pretty good Jimmy Claus.
3. Santa is responsible for the magic and spirit of Christmas. If you could grant the Mencap community one wish, what would it be?
If I could grant one wish it would be for everyone at Mencap to have more time; time to spend with loved ones, time to enjoy themselves or just more time in bed. Failing that they’d get a Kinder egg each.
