My story

Hey Guys,

Firstly, thanks for visiting our fundraising page.

In what can only be described as either a fit of conscience or extreme stupidity Dave and Rushton are teaming up with an international children's charity and flying into the heart of Africa to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro  this summer, raising money that will provide healthcare and education for some of the world’s most vulnerable children.

‘Kili’ towers almost FOUR miles above the surrounding plains, making it the LARGEST freestanding mountain in the world and the self proclaimed “Roof of Africa”. The summit is less than 2000 meters below the level of 'The Death Zone' -the altitude where humans can no longer physically survive. And with temperatures ranging from 40C at the bottom, to -20C with glaciers at the top its needless to say this probably isn’t the best idea we’ve ever had and we are suitably shitting ourselves!

However, with six months drinking time in which to acquire the Dutch courage to actually do this thing, we are hoping to grow a pair and climb this 4 mile high mountain of pain, raising a shed load of cash process.

And frankly, if Chris Moyles can drag his fat arse up there it would just be plain embarrassing if we didn’t – twiglet arms or not!

The climb is part of a wider excursion to Tanzania during which the pair of us will work on volunteering projects ranging from well building to decorating classrooms.

As part of the trip we have made a commitment to ChildReach International to raise a minimum of £2200 each for the charity. This is where you guys come in, with your help and generosity over the next few months and further fundraising incentives we are hoping to achieve a combined total in excess of  £10,000, for what i'm sure you will agree is an extremely good cause.

********************************IMPORTANT*************************

We are NOT asking you to fund our trip in any way, shape or form; we have paid for the trip ourselves.

Any money that you donate goes DIRECTLY to ChildReach International.

*********************************************************************

ChildReach International are a phenomenal charity and a massive 96% of the money  that you donate to them goes directly to the people who truly need it (compared to other charities where as much as 50% is lost in admin charges!).

So now that we have said our piece it’s over to you to do something amazing and change the lives of thousands of children around the world.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: ChildReach International gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor us now!
