Zimbabwe Orphan care has been providing feeding, clothing and housing programs in Harare, Zimbabwe since 2000. It is currently establishing a new oprhans home called 'Jabulani' for rejected and abaondoned babies, many of them from AIDS or other diseases which have killed their mums.

My story

The intrepid team are heading off on an odyssey across Europe in aid of charity, rather than do this as a random event we entering a team in the Cannonball Run Europe 2009 event.http://www.cannonballruneurope.co.uk/

The basis of the event is that we have to complete 3000 in miles in 6 days. At the outset of the adventure, we have no idea what 3000 miles we are going to be covering, in fact each day we will have no idea what 500 miles we have to do to get to the next checkpoint.

Our chariot for the event will be an 1984 VW Camper – now known as the Cannonball Camper, and there will be 3 drivers who will be taking it in turns to put in 3 or 4 hours per day at the wheel.

We set off on 5^th July from Sandown Park and arrive back in England on Friday 10th July – tired, thirs/ty and hopefully making a massive contribution to charity. Aspire Europe Ltd are the main sponsors of the entry, with support from JC Tech Solutions. This will hopefully get the team around the route, all the proceeds will go to charity.

We have chosen Zimbabwean Orphans as it isn’t mainstream and we have all seen the dreadful scenes of depravation and despair coming through on our tv screens. We are sure if you are actually there, the situation is much much worse.
