Story

Dear Family and Friends,

We all have phobias and on Sunday 6 March 2011 I am going to be conquering one of mine. The phobia in question is jumping out of aeroplanes and the remedy I shall employ is jumping out of an aeroplane...from 12,000ft.

I have decided to overcome this life-debilitating fear as part of my work for Cambridge Raise and Give (RAG), a university charity fund-raising organisation. This particular RAG fund-raising campaign is based on raising for charity by doing one-off stunts (which, in my final degree year is quite convenient as I haven't got time to climb Mt Everest or train for and run a marathon!).

My Charity:

I have decided that all the money I raise shall go to Beating Bowel Cancer. Bowel Cancer is the second most common cause of cancer death in the UK, affecting around one in 18 people. Beating Bowel Cancer is a vital charity that seeks to raise awareness of this disease, promote research into it and provide support for bowel cancer sufferers. You can find out more from this short, introductory video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=r0Af48oTQYA or via their website: http://www.beatingbowelcancer.org.

Donating:

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Other Misc. Points:

- Although scary, the jump is totally safe. I will be jumping with a trained professional who will be taking care of the little things (such as making the parachute open)

- All the costs of conducting the jump come to £200. I shall be funding the whole cost of this myself so all your donations will go to Beating Bowel Cancer (rather than Beating Jesse's Plane Jumping Phobia!)

- The whole jump and fall will be on video - so you can all see it all (including my fearful face) afterwards!

Any questions or comments, please don't hesitate to email me: jessedevons@hotmail.com

Thank you for all you're able to donate.

Jesse
