Following on from my debut at the Great Yorkshire Run in 2008, I am raising my sights this year and having a go at the Great North Run (a half marathon) on 20th September in Newcastle. Hardy (foolhardy) or what!
As a warm up, I am also going to do the Great Yorkshire Run again on 6th September in Sheffield and my son Tom is going to join me for this(or more likely leave me standing).
This year I want my fundraising efforts to focus on supporting Rethink's National Advice and Information Service.
As I have discovered while I have been at Rethink, there are few sources of help if your life or that of a member of your family is torn apart by a severe mental illness like schizophrenia.
Our Advice and Information Service has been trying to fill that gap for the last nearly 20 years, offering what can be lifesaving advice and support around care and treatment options, money and benefits, what to do if someone's illness means that they have ended up the wrong side of the law and supporting families when things go wrong.
The Advice Service receives no statutory funding but is an essential part of our work. It has the scope to help lot more people if we had the funds to develop and publicise its work.
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and please what give you can to help us.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to Rethink and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the Rethink.
With very best wishes
Paul
